Minjar Fair Concludes in Chamba, Himachal
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal greeted the people of Chamba district on Minjar Fair and wished them a happy and prosperous year ahead. He dedicated a new terminal building at Chamba Helipad constructed at a cost of Rs. 17.29 lakh and new building of Information and Public Relations Department at Hardaspura, constructed at a cost of Rs. 63.04 lakh and laid foundation stones of Sewerage Scheme to the left out 943 households of Hardaspura, estimated to cost Rs. 5.46 crore, HRTC Workshop at Parel, estimated to cost Rs. 2.98 crore.

Rajwant Sandhu, new chief secretary of Himachal





Rajwant Sandhu, a 1975 batch IAS officer, has been appointed the new chief secretary of Himachal after outgoing chief secretary Asha Swaroop retired today.
Swaroop relinquished office after a career spanning 37 years. She was given a warm send off by employees and colleagues.
Incumbent Sandhu, who was on a central posting, reverted back to the state cadre on 1 July as an officer on special duty. She would be the third woman chief secretary of the state and has a 20 month tenure before her in the top position.





New Jail To Be Set Up In Himachal – Dhumal





Shimla: For the increasing number of inmates in state jails, the government would be setting up another jail in Chamba which has a budget outlay of Rs 3 crore, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal stated here.
Speaking on the occasion of launching video conferencing in courts and jails at model central jail Kanda, Dhumal said that besides the funds for a new jail building in Chamba, Rs 38.68 lakh had been earmarked for repairs of other jail buildings in the state.
Setting up video conferencing in courts and jails was a government initiative to save time and money and ensure early disposal of cases, said the chief minister.
Chief Justice of HP High Court, Justice Kurian Joseph, who was present on the occasion said the the pace of deciding pending cases would be accelerated.




Himachal Government Nursing College To Admit 2010-11 Batch





Shimla: Indian Nursing Council has approved and college of nursing at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and 60 students would be admitted for the 2010-11 batch, Rajiv Bindal, minister for health stated here today.
He said that it would be the state’s first nursing college in the government sector, the admission for which would be made on the bases of an entrance test to be held in October.
The government had notified starting of a nursing college in March that would offer B.Sc., Post Basic, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Nursing courses.
